AEA - Aquatic Energy Auditor - 8 Hrs. (8 Hours) Do you know enough to determine the energy efficiency of your swimming pool or spa?
Learn about California Title 24 (energy efficiency standards) and Title 20 (appliance standards relating to swimming pools) proposed new regulations. Identify features of a swimming pool to perform energy audits. Anyone involved with energy conservation will benefit from this course including energy auditors, inspectors and pool service personnel to name a few. But be prepared … this won’t be a novice lesson. This intensive course covers energy relationships relating to recirculation, filtration and associated calculations; hydraulics and piping; heaters, and pumps; electricity usage and efficiencies.

(8 Hours) In today’s sophisticated backyard swimming pool resort, do you know what you might touch? This course is designed for anyone working with a swimming pool to recognize basic electrical functions and hazards. Learning includes electrical safety; basic electrical terms, theory and components, basic electrical systems, circuits and functions; controllers, pumps and chlorinators; electrical testing. APSP - Certified Builder Program details - http://www.theapsp.org $279 classroom $249 with Association discount Certified Builder Professional I The CBP Level I course includes business practices, soil conditions, pool layout, concrete, plastering, pool-and-spa construction parameters and techniques, deck construction, water chemistry, pool equipment installation/connection, electrical requirements, and ANSI standards. This program was designed as the first stage of a three-part process to certify builders who strive to be recognized as a top swimming pool builder by the industry and the builders’ future customers. Certified Pool-Spa Operator® by NSPF® (16Hours) The National Swimming Pool Foundation’s (NSPF®) Certified Pool - Spa Operator (CPO®) course is internationally recognized and provides foundational training for anyone involved with a swimming pool. From maintenance staff and engineers, to pool owners and retail staff, to management, directors and health departments – everyone benefits from this concentrated two day training. Did you know you may be required to be a CPO? Will you be compliant with the federal Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act requiring anti-entrapment devices installed by December of 2008? Topics include: state, federal and health regulations; disease control and accident prevention; liability and risk management; filtration systems and recirculation; pool chemistry and calculations: water balance, disinfection and testing; maintenance and troubleshooting; renovations; management and personnel; spas; seasonal pools and energy conservation. (1.8 Continuing Education Units (CEU) and 16 APSP Certification Credit Hours) $389 classroom $349 with Association discount Certified Retail Sales Associate (CRSA) - (16 Hrs.) The CRSA course was designed for swimming pool/spa retail store owners and their employees. It teaches general retailing processes, store design, explanation of equipment and parts normally carried by retail stores. Included is a well-designed water-chemistry component that includes in-store-lab-analysis with a software lab. After data entry of the water sample test results, the computer software prints the recommended chemical to be purchased by the customer to satisfy water balance and sanitation requirements. Employers could reasonably expect to spend about forty (40) hours of a trainer’s time and forty (40) hours of an employee’s time to get the same amount of training that this FPSIE concentrated training, high-tech learning technique course offers. Hot Tub for Rookies (16 Hours) Never operated a spa or hot tub? Selling, servicing or buying one? Come join us for a fun filled but brain absorbing workshop to learn: safety precautions and hazards; basic structures, filtration and recirculation systems; theory of operation and requirements; electrical connections and components; spa water chemistry, calculations and testing; routine maintenance, service and customer satisfaction. $349 classroom $279 with Association discount Hydraulics - Advanced (16 hours) NEW! So you think it will really flow? Recommended for those with at least 5 years or more experience with swimming pools or you have taken the Tech 1, Tech 2 by APSP or CPO by NSPF. Learning includes the basic elements of pool and spa technology: practical knowledge for owners and operators; structures and electrical systems; hydraulics, pumps, and filters; heaters; water chemistry and chemical feeders; and pool and spa maintenance. The TECH I course is available in the classroom or through our on-line computer based program. The Association of Pool and Spa Professionals (APSP), offers a second layer of learning for anyone involved with a swimming pool. If you passed or successfully challenged the Tech I course, you are on your way to becoming an APSP Certified Service Professional (CSP®). This comprehensive five day advanced course places greater emphasis on problem solving, renovation, electrical troubleshooting, pump installation, sizing and repairing filters, advanced water chemistry, and automated maintenance systems. Individuals who successfully complete the TECH II course can advance to the third stage - 40 hours of technical elective courses and a standardized written examination.
